Kaziranga

Dear Explorer
Greetings,
We are pleased to discuss your upcoming trip to Kaziranga.
Our aim is to create life long memories through our outings and we also try to encourage people to travel and explore the world around, hence “Keep exploring…”
We hereby present you our Kaziranga Outing.

Kaziranga, in the local language means “where the mountain goat has water”. Flat grasslands with streams and large, landlocked water bodies, tall elephant grass cover most of the land. In 1938 Kaziranga was opened to people as sanctuary and in 1974 was converted into National park and recently in 2007, it was also declared as Tiger Reserve. The great Indian one-horned Rhinoceros may be the greatest attraction of Kaziranga, but it also has the highest density of Tigers amongst all protected areas of world. Unlike Rhino Tigers are hard to spot due to tall grasses along with this two animals National Park is also home to Elephants, Gaur, Sambar, Leopards, Hog deer, Sloth Bear, and Hoolock Gibbons.

Almost every year in the monsoon, Kaziranga is submerged by the backflow of Brahmaputra; this flood helps rejuvenate the forest, recharges the wetlands with fish stocks, clear hyacinth and other debries, and brings in silt to give the grassland new life. Kaziranga is declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, It is internationally acknowledged as one of the last undisturbed habitats of the great Indian Rhinoceros. Today there are over 1500 Rhinos; it is also home to 70 percent of the world’s wild buffalo population. The rare Swamp deer is also found here in plenty. Around 1000 wild Elephants and 450 species of wetland, grassland and woodland birds are found here out of which 18 are globally threatened.
